How long has Empire Closets been around?
Empire Closets was established in 2006 after our creator realized the value in providing unique organization solutions to customers. We are based out of Queens, serving Manhattan and The Bronx.
Is there a showroom? How can I view your custom home designs?
Currently Empire Closets does not have a showroom. Our designers will provide pictures of actual work they have completed for previous clients and will work with you directly to determine the specific design you are looking for.
What is the process of getting a custom storage system?
When you contact Empire Closet, we will take all your information and forward it to one of our professional designers in the area.
After our designer has looked over your information, you will meet with your specialized design Consultant, who will collaborate with you to create your custom design, meeting your needs, style preferences, and budget. During your second meeting, your designers will create a mock-up drawing, providing a detailed rendering to show what your unit will look like. This meeting will also include a discussion of preferred materials and finishes.
Once your designs are to your liking and have been approved by you, your custom unit will be manufactured based on the exact measurement of the space in your home and your preferred color. Our office will schedule a convenient installation date after your unit has been completed.
On installation day, our team of professionals will install your new unit in your home. During that time, they will take extreme care and ensure to leave your home in perfect condition.
How long does the custom design process take?
At Empire Closets, it is our goal to provide clients with custom solutions that will allow them to make the most out of the spaces in their home. Because the process is entirely unique to you, our process does take a bit of time. We ask that you provide feedback regarding approvals in a timely manner, as that will allow the process to move more quickly and smoothly.
What is a typical price for a custom build unit?
Our products range in prices, depending on your design, choice of material, finishes, and accessories. Your consultant will work with you to keep your custom design within your budget, while providing you with a design unit that will allow you to better organize your space.
What type of material do you use for each custom unit?
We carry a wide range of materials, including melamine, MDF (medium-density fiberboard), wood, high-gloss, custom stained, and lacquer. During the second meeting in the design process, your design consultant will confirm which type of materials you’d prefer to use for your custom unit.
Other than closets, what other custom design services do you offer?
In addition to our custom closets, we also offer custom media centers, office storage, libraries, pantries, mudrooms, garages, built-in wall units, wall beds, radiator covers, and more. However, We do not do granite or marble counter tops. If you are interested in creating a custom design with Empire Closets, contact one of our consultants today. After they provide you with a complimentary design mock-up, they will advise you about what materials and colors to choose.
Do you create custom doors?
We offer some custom door design, but we don't repair closets doors or replace closet hardware (tracks, etc.). Our doors are usually on the units directly and your design consultant can help advise you about which doors to choose.
Are you locally owned or a franchise?
We are locally owned and operated. We are based out of Queens, New York and serve areas near Manhattan and The Bronx. Each of our custom home design units are created right here in New York.
Is Empire Closets licensed, insured, and bonded?
Yes, we are licensed, insured and bonded — all of which comply with the state of New York.
What do I need to do to prepare my space for my custom design installation?
Before the installation, please remove all your belongings to clear the space where the unit will be built, as our installers will not be responsible for doing so. If it is not cleared out on the day of the install, your installation will be rescheduled. You can also paint your space if you’d like before the installation day, but please ensure that it has enough time to dry before we install your unit.
Can the installers remove my existing closet or cabinets?
We do provide removal for some existing closets and cabinets. Our standard procedure for tear-outs includes removing shelves and rods with cleats. If you have larger units and additional items that need to be taken apart, you can consult your designer to determine if that is within our scope. However, during removal, we do not carry any items away from your home.
What is your return policy?
Since each of our custom home designs are created based on your own unique preferences, we do not accept returns. If you are unhappy with your custom home design, please contact our team so we can do our best to reach a satisfactory solution.
Do your products come with warranty?
Yes, each of our custom designs comes with a three-year limited warranty.
As long as you own the home where the system is installed and the systems remain in the same condition and have not been tampered with, the warranty will be valid. Our products are guaranteed, but we do not cover normal wear or tear (fading over time, light and smoke exposure, etc), or if the unit was abused in any way. Any components that were manufactured by a third-party and were not part of our original custom design will have to be replaced elsewhere, as we do not offer coverage in that instance.
